For all of the following trends I was completely dumbfounded when they first started showing up on the scene. My jaw would literally drop as I would spot them on the street or in magazines. I thought, "this couldn't possibly last, it'll be a flash in the pan trend and we'll all go on our merry way." But no, these five terrible trends are still staying strong and my jaw is still dropping whenever they pass me by.
1. Leggings
I can not believe that the pants I used to rock when I was five (because I couldn't dress myself) are now acceptable outdoor wear. These make everyone look old and sloppy. People think they're flattering but they always make your ass look fat and they never, ever match with any shoes. (Please, god, tell me people don't actually wear heels with leggings, as shown on the left!) In the rare occasion that I've seen someone wearing leggings and thought "ok, so that isn't TOO bad" it was always under a dress and, you know what? Let's be big girls from now on and wear tights. In rare cases I've seen sort of shiny looking versions where I thought that in perhaps a brave outfit they would look kind of cool but I am dying for leggings to make their way back to the legs of toddlers and far from my peers.
2. UGGS
Perhaps synonymous with leggings are one of the worst shoes ever to enter the fashion world, Uggs. My poor little legs tremble every time I see a girl wearing the high-ponytail-sweatshirt-leggings-and-Uggs combination. These. Do. Not. Look. Good. The fact that they are comfortable is not an excuse. Wear them as slippers then in the comfort of your own home. The fact that they are warm is not an excuse, because usually if they're not paired with leggings, they're paired with a mini denim skirt. Ugg: short for "ugly" or a misspelled "ugh"?
3. Chunky Necklaces
These have been lying under the radar for a while until recently, when I stepped into Forever 21, I was bombarded with chunky necklaces. The problem with these is that there are some kinds that really do add to an outfit but overall the options out there are not good. They mostly resemble the gaudy costume jewelry found in buckets at thrift stores and are just tacky. Also, they weigh you and your outfit down. If paired with a simple outfit it completely overpowers you and if paired with a over-the-top outfit it just makes things overwhelming and messy. My favorite option for a chunky necklace is one that's 50s retro, the kind that stays close to the neck and has beads that are smaller in the back and gradually become bigger in the front. But mostly I would keep the chunky jewelry to bangles.4. Crocs
Why? Why? Why? I don't even know what to say. They are fun and cute on little kids, but after age 10? Why?!
5. The Monokini
I recently read in the Polyvore blog that the monokini is a swimsuit that is flattering on anyone and I laughed out loud. The only body type that has a chance of pulling the monokini off is a swimsuit model. Even for the slightest curvier body the monokini will only be showcasing your love handles and tummy pooch. And, yes, for those that are able to wear it, it is a sexy alternative, but why is this one of the worst trends right now? Because you and I both know that there are a lot of girls out there who think they can pull it off, who believe the lies that it "creates the illusion of an hourglass figure," and who definitely should not be wearing it.

Haha I so agree. Especially about Crocs. Ughhh! Worst "shoe" ever. I saw some lined "ugg" style crocs when I was in Amsterdam... Horrible!!
I wish I knew more about the monokini. I wanted this '50s style red and white once piece from delias which I had thought had full coverage in the back and on my hips, but no. Delias decided that my love handles needed to get tan while my stomach did not.
